St. Patrick's Day Smoothies


What better time to make some Irish flag coloured smoothies than the week of St. Patricks.

I have used ingredients that are free from plastic packaging and some are free of packaging altogether.

Green:

Ingredients:

1 cup spinach or any green you can find unpackaged. Kale is also good.

1 cup water

1/4 tsp matcha green tea powder

dash of lime juice

1/2 avocado

1 tbsp nut butter - I used almond

1 frozen banana

1 medjool date - optional - gives extra sweetness

Method:

Place all the ingredients in a blender and whizz till a creamy texture.

White:

Ingredients:

1/4 cup coconut shreds

1/4 cup cashews (soak overnight to make them easier to digest)

1 cup almond milk (1 tbsp almond butter to 1 cup of water, whizz in blender to combine)

1 frozen banana

Method:

Whizz in a blender until smooth. With all of these recipes you can add more water if you want a thinner mixture.

Orange:

Ingredients:

1 frozen banana

1/4 cup peeled and chopped raw sweet potato (use carrot also)

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

1/2 cup fresh or frozen mango

Method:

Whizz up all the ingredients into a wonderfully nutritious smoothie.
