DIY Mother's Day Beauty Gift Ideas
It is wonderful to make gifts for loved ones, using products you may already have in the house and recycling old glass jars.
I'm going to show you 3 easy beauty products that would make a thoughtful gift for Mother's Day or any day!
I have used ingredients that are easy to find in paper or glass packaging. Utilise what you have in the house before buying anything new.
1. Lemon Lip Scrub
It is still cold here in Ireland in March so this is a scrub for lips that get dry easily. The sugar naturally and gently removes any dead skin from the lips and the oil will leave the lips soft and moisturised.
You'll need....
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
2 drops pure lemon essential oil
Lemon oil is FDA approved to be safe to ingest.
Mix all the ingredients together and place in a jar. This is a mini jam jar. Make sure to sterilise all jars. For this just boil the jars in water for 15 minutes and let air dry.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place.
2. Lavender and Rose Body Oil
There is nothing quite like a beautiful smelling body oil. They are expensive in the shops and yet very simple to make.
You'll need....
5 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp jojoba oil (or argan oil)
10 drops lavender oil
5 drops geranium oil ( or ylang yang oil)
5 drops rose oil ( or jasmine oil)
Mix all the ingredients together. Try and get pure oils for better quality. Place the oil in a jar. This one is a recycled oil jar. Wrap the bottle in whatever you can find in the house. I have burlap from a potato sack and some natural twine.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place.
3. Vanilla and Clove Body Scrub
Spring is the best time to exfoliate your body after it's winter hibernation.
You'll need...
3/4 cup salt (use sugar if more readily available)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
5 drops clove oil
Mix all the ingredients together, leaving the olive oil till last.
Place in a jar. This can be kept in the fridge and used once weekly for baby soft, radiant skin.
Wrap the gifts simply and share with loved ones.
Use old cards as tags. It's a great way of reducing waste. Get creative and use what you can find around your house.
